Just opened this...and it was quickly apparent that Ive wasted $10. It has an extremely clunky (read: NOT intuitive) user interface and froze when I minimized it and then maximized it again. Not good signs. Move on and buy something else.

This app is absolutely horrible. I does not work it makes your computer work hard and every time you go to use it the app freezes and shuts down. They need to pull this app and fix it before selling it.
This app boasts that there are 396 visual effects, but those effects are mostly animated and almost all terrible. It takes forever to scroll through the 99 pages of options, and an equally long time for the example to load for each effect on a page. What you will find are mainly useless effects like animated the "water" effect which show your pic, then and animated puddle of water splashes over it, then the puddles pulls back and you are left with your pic in a crappy water frame. I think that this App would suit tween girls who want to add that kind of crap on their Beebo or FB profiles. I bought it thinking that I would be able to find some great effect filters for images to publish on my blog. Big mistake…a $9.99 mistake at that. What a waste of money.
I opened it thinking WOW this is great & it was but kept crashing & so I kept reloading with anticipation only for it to crash yet again & again X20
After 3 days of usage I have the impression that it has a huge problem with handling large (5184x3456) photos. Very often when Im trying to load effect onto such file the application crashes. So far it looks useless thus 1 star.
Not even possible to test it, only after 15 min of working it closed down 6 times - a disaster! Dont buy it until it gets really compliant with OS X Lion!
I tested the software for a half hour on a full-frame 21-megapixel butterfly JPEG. I had 3 force quits and many lock-ups during the session. Many of the effects enlarged the image so only the butterflys wing tips were visible. Sort of an automatic crop you cant control. The software INSISTS on displaying a horizontal image. It will turn a vertical image into a horizontal one with no rotation controls. There are many "text assisted" effects using the words "Hello World". Trouble is, there is no way I could find to change the text! Font? Yes. Font size? Yes. Text? No. Useless. To use this feature you must really love the words, "Hello World". If you are editing a vertical picture, the text is horizontal anyhow. Useless. The software only allows you to save as JPEG. No TIFF or anything else. Many pictures saved themselves as blank, empty white images or images that greatly differed from the image you thought you were saving. For instance, some effects have a black or dark tonal background which looks pretty good. But when you save the image the background is light. Many of the effects are animated with a pause and resume button provided to control the "action". To get an effect you like before saving, you have to hit the PAUSE button at exactly the correct moment or play with the slider bars to slow it down and try to hit the pause button again. Kinda like Russian roulette. The pause and resume buttons are separate. So you have to click on the resume button, then reposition the mopuse and click on the pause button. Oops -- not fast enough! Resume and start over again. With this kind of hit-or-miss methodology, the pause and resume buttons should be a toggle. Frustrating. Did I mention the 400 "effects" are selected by paging through "PREVIOUS" and "NEXT" buttons (see the image above) which display the effects 4 at a time? That if you like a particular effect you must make a note of the page number plus the effects title because there is no search function or index or category available to return to it later, which may mean paging through 100 "NEXT" button clicks and a couple of force quits along the way to find what youre looking for. STAY AWAY from this app until a serious bug session and some serious testing by the author(s) has been completed. Which is a shame, because SOME of the effects are good ones.
thought this would be a cool application to use with Iphoto as they suggest, however it crashed my system every time I tried to upload a picture from my iphoto album...waste of $$, also tried to use the support and it is a phantom support site... sorry I tried to use this feature...
I dont know what your saying its amazing.
ive been wanting a photo editor like this, so i got it, everytime i try it, it just freezes my whole computer so i gave up on it and downloaded photostyler, it does some cool effects, i love it and its better than this and it doesnt freeze (:
crashes every time. i have a brand new macbook air w/ max memory. i want my money back honestly.
This is by far the worst application I have ever bought. It crashes everytime I try to use it and when it does work the actual color of the pictures are terrible. Not worth the money
This app is really not worth what they are selling it for. Many of the effects just show up blank (black or white screen). Some of the effects are nice and turn out well, but in no way are there 400+ that actually work. If I could go into the program and delete out the effects that do not work, I would. Try something else.
I looked at all the reviews and was hoping the new version had fixed any issues. The picture doesnt fit right (this could be user error) but that being said I cant figure out how to fix the issue. Also, the help link defaults you back to the general MAC help options. All the effects seemed to be there however most of them are the same or not that great or useful. Really not worth the money (or the time).
Used it once since uploading it. Now every time I try to use it, the app locks up and sometimes freezing my whole computer! So disappointed because I really liked it!!!!
There are animated effects in this app but I have no idea why. This app is for still photos. When you apply any of the animated effects and try to "save" the photo, you do NOT get an animated photo. You get a still photo with one frame of the animated effect. The still effects that you do get are not impressive enough to warrant a charge of $9.99. They are counting the useless, animated effects in their "over 396" so, in my opinion, they are lying about that number. I am very disappointed with this app. VERY disappointed.
I keep getting the spinning beachball in between effects. It already crashed once, and the website doesnt seem to exist. I was looking for PHOTO effects, but this is mostly video and/or wallpaperish effects. I will never use most of these, hence why I think 99 cents is the most it should be going for. In fact, the free version is all you should need. Im sorry I actually paid for this.
This program started behaving funny some time ago. It used to work on my MacBook Pro with 8 gigs RAM and my iMac with 4 gigs RAM, but now it is worthless unless it gets fixed. Now it opens for a few seconds and then crashes. Dont buy! This also happens with the free version.
I read the reviews & tried the Lite version, I thought it was nice. After downloading this version, it immediately crashed my computer & kept turning on my WEB CAM?! Next time Ill be sure to read the reviews before downloading.
A very good concept, although it seem to become unstable with images over 3MB.
